Profile
Max Reinke is the International Agreements & Communications Analyst for Global Initiatives. Max's role is highly agile and includes providing thought leadership on global partnerships, coordinating UC San Diego's campus-based exchange programs and summer research experiences, executing delegation visits, and working on special projects on behalf of the AVC--Global Initiatives and other campus leaders. He drafts and executes dozens of international MOUs and agreements annually and applies his acute technological acumen to streamline processes and develop strategic marketing and communications strategies. Max also serves as UC San Diego's Fulbright Scholar Liaison, and is a Fulbright alumnus himself after completing a Fulbright International Educator Administrators Award in 20025. Max has been consistently recognized for his exemplary service to the University; he is a five-time Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) awardee and in 2025 was one of two recipients of the VC Student Affairs and Campus Life Community Partnership Team Player award.
Max started at UC San Diego in 2019. Previously, he worked for the Australian public service in the fields of immigration, ministerial visits, and in the program and events office for the Premier of New South Wales. Max is a native of Morgantown, West Virginia, but lived in Washington, D.C. Santiago, Chile and Sydney, Australia prior to making San Diego his home.
Max is a true product of international education. He studied abroad in Spain and Sweden while pursuing his B.A. in Geography at West Virginia University, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He also completed a transatlantic dual M.A. degree program that awarded him master's degrees in History and International Relations from West Virginia University and Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, Poland while also spending a semester at the University of Tartu, Estonia studying Baltic Sea Region Studies. His master's thesis, Eastern Promises: Poland's Role as a Regional Actor in the European Union's Eastern Policy-- the Example of Belarus, was nominated for best thesis in Poland in 2012.
He speaks English and Spanish and is improving on his Italian.
