Kara Casey Walls

Kara is an event and communications professional with more than 20 years of experience planning and producing events and working in stewardship, operations, and marketing. Kara started her career as an itinerary builder for a tourism agency, specializing in school field trips and corporate retreats. She then expanded her events portfolio to include major fundraisers, galas, small conferences, and large-scale community events. She enjoys the coordination part as much as the facilitation, and prides herself on being able to work on the nitty gritty while also focusing on the big picture. 

 

Kara obtained her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Communications and Theatre. She continued her education to obtain a Graduate Certificate in Liberal Studies and professional certificates in project management and meeting and event management. She is currently pursuing a Master of Professional Studies in Organizational Leadership. 

As a highly organized individual, Kara has a passion for color coding and office supplies. She considers herself as creative and participates in community theatre, appreciates arts and crafts, and is learning to sew. She also enjoys dabbling in graphic design and desktop publishing. Kara is thrilled to be a member of the Global Initiatives teams and looks forward to a long career at UC San Diego.
