Friends Ethnic Dinners

Friends Ethnic Dinners are held twice a year providing members from our Friends, international visitor, university and local communities an opportunity to meet and mingle over an ethnically themed meal with a post-dinner cultural component intended to further enhance our guest's experience of the culture showcased. Our ethnic dinners simultaneously raise funds for Friends academic scholarship program supporting international education.

This event is a great way to spend an evening with friends and/or making new friends! The evening begins with a reception and transitions to a seated dinner. The first Ethnic Dinner was held on March 11, 1973, and was conceived by Luna Fung and Lily Lin and has provided a significant source of income for the Friends since its inception. In the early years, profits were used primarily to help furnish and landscape the International Center (a building Friends gifted to the University and which, in 2017, was razed).

Dinners are held in the panoramic Great Hall located in International House (I-House) located at the north end of the UCSD campus.  Reservations are required.
