 During the 2019 Fall Quarter, UC San Diego will commence the Planning Phase of the ACE Internationalization Laboratory. Below are some goals and highlights for the Planning Phase:

1. Conduct Initial Review of International Activities

The ACE Internationalization Lab Steering Committee will conduct a thorough inventory of existing international activities (student mobility, institutional partnerships, international student services, global research, etc.) to identify and evaluate the current level of internationalization.

2. Plan the Internationalization Review

In this review, campus will:

  • formulate research questions;
  • determine methodology (document review, surveys, interviews, focus groups);
  • establish a timeline;
  • assign subcommittees (with Lab Steering Committee members as chairs);
  • complete International Review Board (IRB) review or other necessary approval procedures.

3. Host UC San Diego's Assigned ACE Advisor on Campus

UC San Diego's ACE advisor, David Fleshler, JD, will visit campus October 14-16. The purpose of this visit is for Mr. Fleshler to familiarize himself with UC San Diego and its particular context for internationalization. While here, Mr. Fleshler will meet with the Steering Committee, senior administration, students and staff to better understand their vision and goals for internationalization as well as how to engage them in the Lab process.
